Independent Education Evaluations

We provide comprehensive assessments that identify strengths and needs and provide evidence-based recommendations that will directly improve learning. An Independent Child Study Team Evaluation or IEE is an evaluation performed by personnel not employed by a school district. It is available at no cost to parents who disagree with an assessment completed by a school district. The right for a parent to request an Independent CST Evaluation is protected by federal and state laws, according to IDEA, CFR (300.502), and NJ Administrative Code (NJAC 6A:14 Special Education). There may be several reasons that a parent requests an Independent CST Evaluation; such as but not limited to: A disagreement about the report, errors within the evaluation, lack of evidence, utilization of appropriate assessments, failure to consider all information (teacher input, parent input, student input), missing classroom observations, or conflict regarding recommendations. Additionally, IEE requests are permitted if the district refuses to evaluate the child, a school district violates parental rights or many other scenarios.

Psychological Evaluations
A psychological evaluation identifies people's cognitive strengths and deficiencies and informs individualized recommendations. Psychological assessments are for adults, as well as children. Often, children who struggle academically, socially, and emotionally have differences in neurological development. Psychological assessment results allow parents, teachers, and therapists to provide the interventions and accommodations necessary for each individual to reach their potential.

Educational Evaluations
Educational evaluations measure performance academically in listening, speaking, reading and writing, and math. Our evaluations also provide information on student performance and determine whether that student is gifted, performing similar to peers, or requires support. Academic evaluations also screen for weaknesses in underlying skills that affect academic achievement. This type of evaluation may be helpful in cases where the student has had recent cognitive testing through their school or previously tested.

Social History Assessments
We know the importance of having the WHOLE picture when evaluating a child. This integral part of a social history evaluation provides pertinent details on developmental delays, health/psychological difficulties, behavioral concerns, and family and cultural factors contributing to children learning differences. The history also provides insight into the strengths of your child. Social and developmental history also includes the early learning experiences of your child; these details are paramount to being able to understand your child and their environment.
Functional Behavioral Assessments
IMPACT staff performs behavioral assessments that identify underlying behavior concerns that may be impacting academic performance in school. These school-based evaluations typically include a functional behavioral assessment (FBA), designed to examine why undesirable or inappropriate behaviors occur. These evaluations are individualized, include multiple observations (6-8 weeks of data collection), consultation with school personnel and parents, and at times, require additional testing. These assessments do not provide a mental health diagnosis but focus on identifying patterns of behavior and a detailed behavior intervention plan that will lead to student success. As behaviors may be fluid and changing, ongoing behavior consultation is available for an additional cost.
Speech/Language Evaluations
These evaluations provide a comprehensive assessment of communication skills. Speech evaluations focus on expressive and receptive language, articulation, voice, and fluency. Evaluations may also focus on issues related to oral-motor skills and feeding. We recommend a comprehensive vision and hearing exam to ensure quality results from our speech and language evaluation.
